Saint Paul’s Outreach Missionary Corps offers men and women the opportunity to be trained as missionaries, working either full-time or part-time in various ministries serving among high-school youth, college students, and young adults (post-university youth). Being part of SPO Missionary Corps is more than a job. It provides a life-changing experience that will form participants to live as committed Christians and members of the Catholic Church.
Campus Ministries, Catholic Parishes, and other Christian organizations across the country count on Saint Paul’s Outreach missionaries to provide leadership and service in their evangelistic efforts to bring the Gospel message to today’s youth. The goal of the SPO Missionary Corps is to recruit, train, and equip a team of missionaries to engage young adults in the life of Christian discipleship. The vision also includes forming men and women in radical discipleship, character, commitment, service, ministry skills, and leadership. The SPO Missionary Corps program has three main components:
Faith Formation
The SPO Missionary Corps helps men and women to strengthen and deepen their personal relationship with God by providing many opportunities throughout the year for personal and communal prayer, meditation, study and participation in the Sacraments. Missionaries also receive spiritual and character formation through retreats, courses, and other training to further their understanding of the Catholic faith.
Community
Missionaries engage a full and deep experience of Christian community by living and serving along side other missionaries and volunteers. The care and challenges provided to them enable missionaries to serve generously throughout the year and to grow in Christian maturity. Often missionaries live in SPO households which provide a dependable way to give and receive support.
Service
SPO missionaries are called to the mission of engaging young men and women in the life of Christian discipleship. They respond to this call by fostering personal relationships with young adults and by helping to lead evangelistic events, programs, and efforts. Missionaries witness to the New Life found in Christ and establish strong Christian environments where the faith of young adults may flourish.
